Term 1 2020 Dance Newsletter

Welcome back to LFK 2020! We are so excited that everyone is back to dance! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a relaxing break, and that you are ready for another amazing year at LFK!

We have had such a busy, but incredible start to 2020! With amazing new teachers starting, the Industry Squad booked out with performances and opportunities, and awesome classes running everyday, we think that this is going to be the best year at LFK yet! Please read the following information for updates on events, uniform and announcements for Term 1.

Important Dates

Friday 6th – Monday 9th March – We are OPEN on Labour Day Weekend

Sunday 8th March - LFK’s Performance with Katy Perry at the MCG for the World Cup Final ICC

Sunday 15th March – AFLW Performance at Whitten Oval 1.10pm

Friday 27th March- AFLW Performance at Whitten Oval 5.45pm

Friday 27th March- LFK in NYC depart to Orlando & New York

Tuesday 7th April - LFK Dancers helping represent The Melbourne Vixens at Fan Day @ Federation Square

Monday 13th April- We are CLOSED for Easter Monday

Term 2 Dates: Tuesday 14th April- Saturday 27th June

Fees

Fees for Term 1 are now due. Fees can be paid over the phone by credit card or direct debit if you do not have a chance to come to reception between 9-7pm Monday to Friday.

Uniforms

If you haven’t purchased the appropriate uniform for your child yet please aim to do so. Please make sure the correct uniform (including shoes) is worn, and that hair is up and tidy for class. Any questions about the exact uniform please ask reception, we also have the posters in the foyer or have a look on our website at the full uniform lists including pictures and pricing. Please remember to send your child to class with a drink bottle! Dancewear Nation is available for all your dancewear needs!

LFK Industry Squad

Our industry squad is having the busiest year yet! With multiple performances all over Melbourne. Our AFLW Western Bulldogs Cheer team is thriving with their performances at the home games for the AFLW Bulldogs team. We would love if students and families of LFK came and watched our girls perform! It is free admission to enter AFLW games and lots of free activities to participate in. We have also secured the opportunity for 30 of our students, to dance for the amazing Katy Perry. These awesome girls will be performing at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final, which is held at the MCG on the 8th of March. Our girls have been super busy with rehearsals every weekend leading up to these events! Tickets are only $20 - we would love to see you there.

LFK in NYC

On the 27th of March, 20 of our dancers and their families will be taking a trip of a lifetime to New York and Orlando, Florida! They have been working very hard with Michelle Knezevic on their 22 minute routine. They will be performing this awesome routine at Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, as well as taking part in dance workshops at these parks with industry professionals! They will also be taking part in an amazing photo shoot with the one and only Jordan Matter in Times Square! This is the opportunity of a lifetime, as Jordan has worked with famous dancers from all over the world! Our dancers will also be doing workshops at Alvin Ailey and The Broadway

Dance Centre as well as seeing ‘The Lion King’ on Broadway.

Dance Captains

Finally, we would like to introduce and welcome our two Dance Captains for 2020. Ella Goldsmith and Stephanie Davis have been selected to help facilitate the smooth running of the dance faculty at LFK and be the middle ear between the teachers, students and staff. They are excellent role models and dancers and will create a fantastic path for all of the younger dancers to dance along. Congratulations girls! A huge thank you to our 2019 outgoing Dance Captains Sophie & Chelsea for your support.
