Term 2 Dance Newsletter

Welcome back to another fantastic year of dance at LFK! To all of our new members, a very warm welcome to you, we are thrilled to have you join our wonderful and ever-growing LFK community.

This year is sure to be as exciting and action packed as the last, with the Dance Trip to Disneyland Hong Kong, AFLW Western Bulldogs Performances, the annual Dance Choreography Competition and of course the end of year dance concert! The theme this year is ‘Elements’, Earth, Water, Wind and Fire- set to be another fantastic show!

Teachers

LFK welcomes back the old and new members to our dance teaching staff. With new teachers LAURA Parker, Stephanie Verga, Amber Kovach and Skylar Delphinus joining the team of already existing teachers. Thank you to Tracy, Tori, Burak, Tegan, Frances, Alarni, Kearna, Tash, Darcy, Anita, Ella, Elizabeth and Elyse for teaching another year of dancing!

Important Dates

Term 2 Dates: Monday 20th April – Saturday 30th June

Please note that we are closed on April 25th for ANZAC day.

We are open on June 11th for the Queen’s Birthday.

Please save Friday the 30th of November and Saturday the 1st of December for our concert dates this year! For those that are new to dance at LFK, for our end of year performances we divide the cohort into Junior and Senior shows, this allows for a much more enjoyable and stress-free concert period! Xavier College has a new principal this year that has discontinued any theatre bookings in the November year 12 exam period. This means that we were fortunate to receive two days at Xavier College, and keep consistency between our annual concert venue. We hope you understand the slight change in how the concert weekend will present this year and thank you for you understanding.

Fees

Fees for Term 2 are now due. We will send out invoices to those who have not paid in week three of the term, so please see reception to view and settle your account. Fees can be paid over the phone by credit card or direct debit if you do not have a chance to come to reception between 9-7pm Monday to Friday. You are entitled to a 5% discount if fees are paid in full

by 1pm on Saturday the 21st of April.

Uniform

Dance Uniform is compulsory for all dance classes, uniform lists can be found in the foyer. For Term 2 we will have winter uniforms available, with LFK hoodies and leggings available for purchase from reception. Jazz, Ballet, Tap shoes, leotards and skirts can be purchased from local dancewear supplier Dancewear Nation, located at 2/70 Douglas Parade.

Expectations

Students should arrive 5 minutes before class with a named water bottle and their hair tied back off their face in a high ponytail (bun for ballet) with matching JoJo Bow, which can be purchased from reception for $10. For new and returning students please ensure that you have filled out a Dance Enrolment form at reception, as we must keep updated information on file for all students.

Hong Kong Disneyland Tour 2018

These school holidays 22 talented dancers headed over to Hong Kong to open the Disneyland parade and perform their showcase at Ocean Park and K11. They made LFK proud and had a once in a lifetime trip. After the fantastic success of the 2016 Los Angeles Disneyland Tour LFK were very proud to be performing once more on an international stage. Check out the crew and their performances on LFK social media platforms.

Costume deposits

Week 5 of this term will see us distributing the costume deposit envelopes. These are designed to help you begin to deduct the final costume price for when the balance is due at the end of term 3. Please note that these deposits are cash or cheque only and $50 is required for each dance class your child does. **Credit cards will not be accepted for deposits**

Dance Captains 2018

Finally, we would like to introduce and welcome our two Dance Captains for 2018. Breanna Formosa and Monique Marcina have been selected to represent the dancing cohort of Lifestyle for Kids, be the spokespeople for the students of LFK and be exceptional role models for the younger students. We are incredibly proud to offer the girls such an important position within the LFK community. We also would like to congratulate Holly Peters who was captain of the Disney Hong Kong Crew and exceeded all expectations. Congratulations girls!
